Job Summary

The Dive Department is seeking a Seasonal/Summer Intern through our ongoing partnership with Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) and its Marine Facilities Engineering program. This internship supports the continued development of academic and workforce pathways between Marine Operations/Facilities and MMA.

The intern will gain hands-on experience in marine facility operations, diving support, and technical shop practices while working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic marine environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with dock inspections and general marine infrastructure assessments
  • Support dive operations in accordance with established safety protocols
  • Participate in and learn dive safety procedures and compliance standards
  • Develop and apply basic shop skills, including use of tools and equipment
  • Assist with routine maintenance and operational tasks within the Dive Department
  • Observe and contribute to marine facility engineering activities as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and follow reporting procedures as required

Learning Objectives

This internship is designed to align with MMA’s Marine Facilities Engineering program and will focus on key learning areas such as:

  • Dock inspection techniques and standards
  • Dive safety practices and operational awareness
  • Practical shop and mechanical skills
  • Exposure to marine operations and facility management

(Final learning objectives will be confirmed in coordination with the intern’s academic advisor.)
