Job Details:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of repair, maintenance, and custodial tasks to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of facilities and grounds. Provides support for events, projects, and day-to-day operations while maintaining compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform general facility and grounds maintenance, including trash removal, landscaping support, and upkeep of public, staff, and storage areas.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of facility rooms for events, meetings, and activities, including arranging chairs, tables, and audio/visual equipment.
- Clean facility areas, perform minor plumbing repairs (e.g., unclogging sinks or toilets), and replace light bulbs and filters.
- Inspect and maintain facility equipment, tools, and machinery, ensuring they are safe, operational, and properly stored.
- Maintain and update the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) report and ensure proper handling of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards or needed repairs to supervisors.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare, maintain, and update property condition reports, ensuring all details of facility status are accurately documented.
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and address minor maintenance issues as needed.
- Collaborate with facilities maintenance staff and external contractors to address complex interior and exterior repair projects.
- Perform seasonal tasks, such as de-icing sidewalks, pressure washing, and inspecting for weather-related damage.
- Assist with inventory management of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, placing orders as necessary.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including proper signage, hazard communication, and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Support sustainability initiatives, such as recycling programs and energy conservation measures, within the facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Skill in communicating with others by oral and written means.
- Ability to clean, organize and maintain storage areas.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to perform physical skills, including but not limited to, climbing, bending, stooping, and standing for
- long periods of time.
- Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 100 lbs., and push/pulling up to 25 lbs. for 50 feet.
- Ability to receive oral and detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations
- in sound.
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.
- Ability to work in both and indoor and outdoor environment.
- Incumbent is subject to fume/odor, dust/mites, and chemical hazards
- Skill with organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment utilizing knowledge of the organization's policies.
- Ability to work independently under general instructions.
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including but not limited to tablet, PC, telephone, calculator, scanner, and copier.
- Ability to prioritize deadlines and tasks.
- Ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
- Ability to work within a set schedule.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
- A High School Diploma or GED, plus a minimum of one year experience performing facility and/or building maintenance work.
- Possession of a valid Texas Operator’s License, Class C.
