The Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design and Construction Associate at its Nashville, TN headquarters. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career professional looking to grow their experience across all phases of commercial healthcare real estate development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with project estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction services.
  • Conduct construction market research, cost analysis, and evaluate pricing trends.
  • Assist with site feasibility studies to support acquisition and development efforts.
  • Research and interpret zoning codes and regulations.
  • Hire and manage third-party design and construction professionals, including architects, civil engineers, and general contractors.
  • Review and negotiate design and construction contracts with legal counsel.
  • Coordinate and work through the entitlement process with local jurisdictions.
  • Serve as the owner’s representative throughout the development process, ensuring adherence to design, budget, and schedule objectives.
  • Lead and manage OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings.
  • Support the delivery of ground-up development and major redevelopment projects for medical outpatient buildings.
  • Participate in large-scale renovation projects across Healthcare Realty’s national portfolio of 38 million square feet.
  • Travel to project sites as needed (short duration trips only).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in construction project management, development, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings, understanding building and zoning codes, and managing project budgets.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive and collaborative mindset, with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • This position works in our corporate headquarters in Nashville.
