JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
MCC’s Community and Workforce Education Division is seeking enthusiastic and experienced Code School Instructors to teach non-credit technical courses to adult learners in an online format. This position includes teaching 2–3 short-term courses per year and will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, practical, and industry-relevant course content. Instruction will be delivered through MCC’s learning management system (Canvas) and video conferencing platform (Zoom). Courses are designed to enhance professional development and support learners’ entry or advancement in technology careers.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
• Develops and delivers high-quality, hands-on course content focused on front-end and/or back-end development frameworks for adult learners.
• Facilitates student learning and engagement using MCC’s Canvas learning management system.
• Prepares resources that reflect industry standards and best practices.
• Assesses student progress and provides constructive feedback throughout the course.
• Maintains communication with students regarding course logistics, assignments, and learning support.
• Participates in instructor orientation, training, and ongoing professional development.
• Consistently and dependably teaches scheduled courses as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of front-end and back-end programming languages and frameworks (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React, Java, SpringBoot, etc.).
• Knowledge of instructional best practices for adult learners in an online environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create engaging, inclusive, and supportive virtual learning experiences.
• Familiarity with Canvas or a comparable learning management system.
• Passion for teaching and supporting diverse learners.
• Ability to effectively work and interact with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds.
• Ability to teach in the evening and on some weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Web Development, Software Engineering).
• Professional coding experience in front-end and/or back-end development.
• Experience teaching (preferably online), particularly with adult learners.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, React, Java, SpringBoot, and other programming languages.
• Must pass a background check.
