Job Overview

DFW Airport is seeking a talented Signs & Markings Technician to fabricate, install, and maintain critical signage and pavement markings across both airfield and landside environments. This highly specialized role blends craftsmanship, technical precision, and operational safety to support airport navigation, regulatory compliance, and customer experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, fabricate, and install a wide range of airport signs and pavement markings in compliance with FAA, TX-DOT, MUTCD, FHWA, and Airport Board standards.

  • Operate advanced graphics and fabrication equipment including Gerber Scientific Products, New Hermes systems, Adobe Illustrator, and GSP Graphix Advantage.

  • Perform screen printing, engraving, routing, lamination, and precision drafting for complex graphics and signage.

  • Lay out and install pavement markings using truck-mounted and walk-behind striping equipment with computerized control systems.

  • Operate pavement preparation equipment such as water blasters, shot blasters, scarifiers, and grinders.

  • Drive and operate aerial manlifts and cranes to install overhead signs.

  • Use various hand and power tools to install and maintain poles, posts, signs, and graphic elements.

  • Serve as a project leader on assigned tasks, coordinating additional personnel and maintaining documentation through Oracle-based work order systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two (2) years of experience in sign fabrication, pavement marking, or related work.

  • Ability to pass:

    • Color vision test

    • Medical physical examination

  • Possession of a Class B commercial driver’s license, or ability to obtain within 12 months.

  • Ability to obtain a SIDA badge within 30 days of hire.

  • Must pass all DOT-required drug and alcohol testing for safety-sensitive positions.

  • Must meet AOA driving training requirements within 30 days

Working Conditions

  • Work occurs in outdoor, indoor, airfield, and maintenance environments.

  • Exposure to weather extremes, chemicals, dust, noise, and moving aircraft/vehicles.

  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing ladders, stooping, squatting, and working at elevated heights.

  • Use of power tools, specialized machinery, precision equipment, and communication devices.

  • Operation of airport vehicles across various locations on property.
