Job Overview
Are you experienced in concrete or asphalt maintenance and ready to make a difference at one of the world’s busiest airports? DFW Airport is seeking a Pavement Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this hands-on role, you'll operate heavy equipment, repair airfield and roadway surfaces, and help keep our airport moving safely and efficiently — rain or shine, day or night.
Perform concrete and asphalt repair and maintenance on runways, taxiways, roads, and parking areas.
Operate heavy machinery including dump trucks, backhoes, graders, mixers, skid steers, and crack sealing equipment.
Finish surfaces using hand and power tools — from spall repairs to epoxy applications.
Train others on safe equipment operation and report on equipment and inventory status.
Set up and manage traffic control devices and barriers in active work zones.
Respond to emergencies and assist in snow/ice removal operations during winter weather events.
Maintain storm drains, flumes, fencing, guardrails, and other roadway infrastructure.
High school diploma or equivalent.
1 year of experience in concrete/asphalt repair and finishing, or equivalent education/experience.
Good driving record with no DWI convictions in the past 5 years and no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
Must pass a medical physical exam and be available for rotating shifts and emergency response.
Must pass pre-employment and ongoing DOT-designated drug and alcohol testing.
Strong understanding of asphalt and concrete repair, finishing techniques, and safety procedures.
Proficient in operating road repair equipment and tools.
Able to clean and maintain equipment and vehicles.
Clear and professional communication, including over two-way radios.
Capable of basic math calculations and following oral/written instructions.
Must be able to obtain Aircraft Movement Area driving certification
Work performed in all weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, and standing for long periods.
Operates hand and power tools, heavy machinery, and vehicles across airport property.
Works on-call during emergencies or inclement weather events.
