WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Security Investigator is responsible for conducting investigations to minimize potential liability and reducing risk for Rio Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. This includes partnering closely with Surveillance, Legal, gaming regulators and Human Resources to identify and resolve complaints of criminal activity and misconduct.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Directly partner with Surveillance and gaming regulators on policies and processes for managing various matters and situations in gaming areas.

  • Work with internal legal, risk and HR departments to support inquiries and investigations of possible employee misconduct.

  • Conduct investigations in the utmost professional, ethical and confidentiality manner.

  • Follow and abide by all set policies and procedures to properly investigate, document and present findings to the appropriate authority.

  • Attend unemployment, arbitration and other legal court proceedings when requested.

  • Create and maintain an incident database to track, analyze and refer back to for historical data, and proactively provide feedback on trends and patterns to company executives.

  • Verbally communicate, in a calm, positive demeanor, taking control, giving direction in case of hotel emergency.

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, gaming, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards.

  • Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.  

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in security/surveillance operations, including investigative experience.  

  • Two (2) years experience in either a law enforcement or casino security field.

  • Strong organizational skills, solution-driven, and analytical thinker.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Strong Computer proficiency; ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and applicable operational software.

  • High School diploma.

  • At least 21 years of age.

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Prior casino and resort experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

  • FirstAid/CPR certification required.

  • Alcohol Awareness certification required.

  • Driver’s license in good standing.

  • Security certifications - preferred.

  • FirstAid/CPR trainer certification - preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Must regularly lift and/move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
