Job Description:

Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution and a member of the University System of Maryland, is accepting applications for a Lead Events Set-up Specialist. Founded in 1900, Coppin is an urban, residential, historically black university offering 32 undergraduate majors, 14 graduate majors, and 15 certificate programs and 1 doctoral program; nearly 3,000 students are enrolled in day, evening, on-line, and weekend undergraduate and graduate courses.

Reporting to the Director of Business Services, this position leads the coordination of set-up, breakdown, and events logistics for student, department, and external clients.

Responsibilities:

• Move, install, arrange, and break down tables, chairs, tents, podiums, stage sections, beverage coolers, and equipment for university events. Install and break down piping and draping for special functions.
• Assist with various projects and assignments not directly related to events such as inventory, repair, and preventive maintenance of all equipment.
• Operate box/pick-up truck, or gold cart to move furniture and other items, and deliver supplies and materials to new locations.
• Update reports and request forms, submit paperwork on time, and submit work orders for items in disrepair.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION

• High school diploma.

EXPERIENCE

• Position will be required to work non-traditional hours, including weekends.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Communicates effectively, professionally, courteously, and thoroughly with the highest regards for the clients.
• Ability to read and write; to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Conditions of Employment:
