Wingate University seeks a dynamic educator and curriculum designer to create and deliver an innovative experiential learning course that brings real-world employer challenges directly to campus. This two-phase role begins with curriculum development in Spring 2026, followed by ongoing adjunct instruction beginning Fall 2026. The course will launch as a 2-credit Honors seminar (8 weeks) and serve as a pilot for scalable career-connected learning across disciplines.

Drawing on models like the Truist Innovation Center Challenge, this course will immerse students in authentic workplace problem-solving while building critical competencies in collaboration, communication, and creative thinking. The instructor will work closely with Career Pathways to leverage employer partnerships and integrate technology platforms that enhance student learning and career readiness.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design an 8-week or 16-week, 2-credit Honors seminar focused on employer-partnered experiential learning*

  • Develop comprehensive course materials including syllabus, learning objectives, assessment rubrics, and weekly session plans

  • Create curriculum that aligns with NACE career competencies and QEP experiential learning outcomes

  • Design purposeful reflection components that help students connect learning to career pathways

  • Identify and structure opportunities for employer engagement (guest speakers, case challenges, site visits)

  • Collaborate with Career Pathways team to leverage existing and new employer partnerships (e.g. Truist, Atrium Health, Huntington Bank, etc.)

  • Research and recommend partnerships and technology platforms/tools to support student skill development and portfolio building

  • Ensure course design supports scalability and replication across other disciplines

  • Integrate opportunities for students to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support research, ideation, communication, and portfolio development, ensuring ethical and transparent use aligned with university guidelines

  • Identify AI-enabled platforms that enhance experiential learning, employer engagement, and student competency tracking

*The course delivery will depend on student learning outcomes and other elements of course design.

DELIVERABLES

  • Complete course syllabus and instructional materials

  • Assessment framework aligned with institutional learning outcomes

  • Student reflection and career connection framework

PHASE II: ADJUNCT INSTRUCTION (Fall 2026 and Beyond)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach the experiential learning course each semester (anticipated 1-2 sections)

  • Facilitate authentic employer-driven projects and challenges

  • Coordinate with Career Pathways to secure employer partners and real-world case scenarios 

  • Guide student teams through design thinking or problem-solving processes 

  • Integrate technology platforms (could be via partners)  to track student competency development

  • Provide career-connected feedback and coaching throughout student projects

  • Foster reflection practices that help students articulate their learning for future employers

  • Assess student work using established rubrics and competency frameworks

  • Leverage AI tools inside and outside the classroom to support student problem-solving, industry research, communication, and reflective learning

  • Coach students on responsible and effective use of AI in professional contexts, helping them understand when and how AI can enhance—but not replace—human judgment

  • Share course design and student outcomes with campus partners (i.e., workshops with the Bulldog Educator Exchange)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in relevant field

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development

  • Experience teaching at the college level

  • Excellent facilitation and coaching skills
