Manages the operation of the technical trade areas, which usually includes plumbing, heating, electrical, refrigeration and air conditioning, preventative maintenance, and water plant.

Assistant Director of Facilities - Maintenance

Frostburg State University (FSU), Facilities Department, is accepting applications for a full-time, exempt Assistant Director of Facilities - Maintenance is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Position includes the robust University System of Maryland benefits package, which is comprised of annual, personal, and sick leave, holidays, tuition remission, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement plans.

Responsibilities: This position manages and supervises the daily activities of the Facility Maintenance Shops: Electrical, Multi-trades, Paint, Plumbing, Garage, Grounds, and HVAC Shops. This position will work with other Facility Supervisors to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient campus.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience managing and supervising construction/maintenance activities and staff.

Preferred Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the methods and techniques of the trades; of the OSHA regulations related to the trades. Thorough knowledge of and skill in the practical application of electronics, hydraulics, and mechanics as used in maintenance work; of basic mathematics including area, volume, weights and the practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions; of the principles of supervision in the maintenance trades. Skill in the care and storage of equipment and supplies; in the use and maintenance of the tools and equipment of the trades; in reading, interpreting, and working from blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to supervise and train skilled and unskilled employees in assigned trade(s) work; to plan and organize maintenance work; to determine sufficiency of cost estimates prepared by others; to prepare specifications for tools, equipment, materials.
