Location: Waltham, MA
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Hours: Full Time
Hourly Pay Rate: $22-24/hr
Pay Frequency: Weekly – Direct Deposit

Salad/Prep Cook Job Summary:
The Salad/Prep Cook reports to the Chef Manager and is responsible for assisting the Chef Manager with daily tasks, station set-up and utility responsibilities. Facilitates set-up from BOH to FOH and ensures a clean working environment and dining area for customers.
Essential Functions and Key Tasks:
Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving.
Mix ingredients for green salads, molded fruit salads, vegetable salads, and pasta salads.
May monitor, cook and prepare foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or utilization of food thermometers.
May bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
May season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes with guidance from supervisor, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
Assist with stocking stations with all items necessary for service.
Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide cooks with needed items.
Inform management when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low, and order needed items.
Maintain clean dining area.
Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment.
Adhere to and promote company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, uniform guidelines, and productivity.
May assist in supporting culinary staff at numerous stations as directed.
Provide excellent customer service to include being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking customers.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Work Environment
This job operates in a kitchen environment whereby employees may be exposed to and/or required to operate equipment, including but not limited to, an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and push, pull & lift items weighing 40 pounds or less. Employee may be required to stand for long periods of time. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in food service
Previous customer service experience
