Chair of the Department of Educational Professions
Frostburg State University's Department of Educational Professions is seeking talented applicants with proven leadership ability and evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarship to fill a tenure-track department chair position to begin in fall 2026. The successful candidate will be a departmental colleague who can provide effective leadership to the Educational Professions Department and will have a record suitable for hiring at the rank of associate or full professor. Credit toward tenure will be considered. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included.
The Mission of the Department of Educational Professions is to develop educational practitioner-leaders with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be student-focused, ethical, capable, and committed to the principles of honoring diversity, ensuring equity, practicing inclusion, and promoting social justice.
The Department of Educational Professions undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership within the Department is a member of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED).
Responsibilities: The department chair must be committed to high-quality, student-centered teaching, curricular and pedagogical development, applied research, and faculty mentoring and professional development. The department chair will manage the fiscal, personnel, curricular, outreach and recruitment responsibilities in a department of 20 full-time faculty and 3 staff members. The department chair will lead the CAEP accreditation process. The department chair will teach one course/semester with expertise in either Special Education, Educational Leadership, or Early Childhood Education. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students ensuring academic progress.
