Job Description:

The Calvert County Family Network is seeking a coordinator. This position supports the planning and implementation of family-focused initiatives by managing grant-funded programs, monitoring data and reporting, coordinating board activities, and maintaining essential records. The coordinator also facilitates communication with partners and supports collaboration across agencies to strengthen services for children, youth, and families in Calvert County.

Performs administrative work in overseeing the operation of the Local Management Board initiative in Calvert County, cognizant of the mission, goals and objectives of the Governor’s Office for Children.  The work involves coordinating grants that provide program funds for children, youth, and families for the Calvert County Family Network (CCFN) and performing related program administrative duties.   The Coordinator works closely with and is responsive to the Board of Directors of the CCFN. The position reviews and comments on a variety of proposed regulations and laws, and reviews numerous procedures. The position reports to the Director of the Department of Community Resources and to the Family Network Board members.

Essential Job Functions

Acts as coordinator/liaison for implementation of the Calvert County Local Management Board Initiative by the Family Network Board and Family Network staff and vendors.

Develops annual State and County budgets; monitors expenditures; prepares fiscal reports and completes and/or reviews purchase orders for supplies, equipment, equipment repair, and contracted services with vendors.

Administers and prepares grants.

Submits management reports; collects, analyzes and evaluates data and information and makes recommendations.

Serves on community committees relevant to children's needs and serves as a liaison with other community programs.

Serves as liaison on appropriate state and local committees to obtain input for types of programs and activities deemed appropriate; attends monthly meetings, listens to concerns and reports these concerns to the Family Network Board.

Maintains regular contact with the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families and provides all reports as requested.

Attends local and state meetings and trainings in order to be informed of policies, funding and procedures as they relate to the Family Network.

Supervises the implementation of goals and plans recommended by the Family Network Board and approved by the Board of County Commissioners; establishes and monitors schedules to insure effective and timely implementation of these plans and programs.

Communicates, orally and in writing, with internal staff, external clientele and the general public; interprets and explains policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Coordinates interagency training for Family Network Board members, provider(s), staff and other interested persons who impact on services provided by the Initiative.

Attends meetings on regular basis; ensures agendas, notices and minutes of meetings are distributed.

Reviews numerous complex regulations (proposed and enacted) and comments on same for the purpose of County impact assessment and planning.

Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)

Training and/or Education:

Bachelor's degree in the field of human services or related field.

Experience:

Three years of progressively responsible experience in developing, implementing and monitoring programs for children and families of which two years must include considerable experience managing budgets, daily operations, customer service and policy development and implementation.

Physical Demands:

Operations of keyboard devices.

Unusual Demands:

Work is subject to frequent interruptions, attendance at evening meetings and inflexible deadlines.  Limited travel required.

Compensation Steps:

Department of Community Resources

Pay rate: $41.65 - $47.81 per hour; $75,803 - $87,014 annually

Grade 725, full-time position, 35 hours per week

This position allows for telework, meaning the employee may be able to work from home or another offsite location for part of the workweek, but they are still required to come into the office regularly. This arrangement is at the supervisor's discretion and may change based on business needs.
