Job Description Summary
Under minimal direction, this position is responsible for leading and directing the operations of Creative Testing Solutions to assure efficient and effective performance to accomplish the mission and strategic initiatives of the organization. This position participates on the CTS Executive team and reports to the President/CEO.
Job Description
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for CTS. Establishes objectives and procedures governing the performance of assigned activities in the various operations. Is responsible to assure performance to operating plans and standards. Takes necessary action to assure performance and adherence to plans and standards.
- Assures laboratory compliance with applicable federal, state, and AABB regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures; follows-up on deficiencies reported. Assures the technical competency necessary to provide high quality laboratory services.
- Oversees and implements the annual operating budget and capital expenditures budget in accordance with organizational procedures. Takes appropriate action if performance varies from plan.
- Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates performance of assigned personnel. Identifies and effectively resolves personnel issues. Holds assigned personnel accountable for meeting performance targets and goals.
- Participates in the implementation of the organization's comprehensive Quality Assurance Plan. Facilitates the implementation and ongoing compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan for CTS operations, to ensure high quality testing services.
- Drives strategic initiatives that enhance performance, turnaround times, capacity, and workflow optimization.
- Champions Operational Excellence principles to drive operational efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
- Interacts with vendors, customers, member-owners and their affiliates, and the professional community at large to facilitate growth and efficiency of the laboratory.
- Participates in negotiations of agreements with suppliers, customers, and member-owners.
- Oversees the administration and performance for all laboratory testing contracts awarded to CTS
- Remains abreast of changes and developments in the industry to include the competitive market, client expectations, changing instrumentation, and new innovations. Establishes and maintains a network of professional relationships, both inside and outside the organization. Represents the company through participation in national, regional and/or local professional organizations.
- Ensures that the duties, responsibilities, authority, and accountability of all direct reports is defined and understood. Assures direct reports have active development programs.
- Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
- Assures quality customer service to all customers.
- Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy. On-call duties required.
- Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in a regulated laboratory environment required including at least five years in upper-level leadership required.
- Knowledge of management principles including human resource management, budget administration, financial analysis and business administration required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as they apply to technical operations preferred.

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Office work environment
- Travel: 30-50%
- 5+ hours per shift: Sitting, finger dexterity, reaching waist to shoulder.
- Up to 3 hours per shift: Walking, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders, pinching, reaching knee to waist, reaching floor to knee, grasping items, carrying/move items up to 40 pounds, lifting to 40 pounds, standing, handling.
