Job Summary:
Repairs, calibrates, and maintains medical equipment, and supports systems of moderate complexity used in healthcare delivery under moderate supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
Repairs, installs, maintains, calibrates, and inspects medical equipment and instrumentation, including life support equipment.
Performs preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and electronic systems.
Diagnoses and corrects system and equipment malfunctions.
Maintains documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
Assists with and evaluates third party repairs.
Provides technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
Reviews outcome of preventive maintenance actions and makes recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
May assist senior biomedical engineering technicians or supervisor with in-service educational programs on use of equipment
Responds to service requests and performs problem assessment, troubleshooting, correction and documentation.
Skills and Attributes:
Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Works under general supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.
Position Requirements:
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience required
Education
Associate's degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering required upon hire OR
Associate's degree or higher in Electronic Engineering required upon hire OR
Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
Additional Education Information
A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
