Hourly Hiring Range: $21.87 - $23.78

Job Description

Summary:

The Juvenile Court System Improvement Specialist will assist the System Improvement Team with all aspects of Pima County Juvenile Court's System Improvement (SI) efforts including the implementation and monitoring of evidence-based initiatives and system reform efforts. The incumbent will work with all Juvenile Court divisions, departments, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

This is a classified position that reports to the Juvenile Court System Improvement and Quality Assurance Manager. The incumbent performs duties under general supervision and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in education, liberal arts, psychology, social sciences, or a related field and two years of substantive, professional-level experience in juvenile dependency and/or justice experience, working with court involved youth. Or any equivalent experience, training, and/or education approved by Human Resources.

Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Supports all aspects of the Court's System Improvement work while implementing the court's vision, mission, and core values.

  • Coordinates with System Improvement Data Analyst in tracking and collection of relevant data for analysis and conducts research into appropriate system improvement efforts.

  • Assists with training court staff and external stakeholders on System Improvement efforts.

  • Participates with work groups to accomplish goals and objectives of the System Improvement team.

  • Assists with building a positive system improvement environment within the Juvenile Court and with other stakeholders and partner agencies.

  • Assists in coordinating and clarifying system improvement related information for grants and contract requirements.

  • Establishes and maintains a positive and effective working relationship with community members and stakeholders to promote and implement system improvement efforts.

  • Assists with coordinating and facilitating community collaborative meetings.

  • Plans, organizes, and collaborates with stakeholders in developing education events for court- involved youth.

Additional Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Maintains relevant program documentation and data.

  • Performs related duties and supports teams' projects and activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of the Juvenile Dependency and/or Juvenile Justice System.

  • System improvement and reform strategies, including implementation best practices.

  • Juvenile Court operations, procedures, and policies.

  • Cultural, societal, and systemic issues impacting juvenile delinquency and dependency, including but not limited to substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health, trauma, human trafficking, gun violence, and racial and ethnic disparities.

  • Principles and practices of program development, project and program management, administration, and strategic planning.

  • Data collection, analysis, research methodologies, and program evaluation techniques.

  • Business English, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

  • Use and operation of standard office equipment and software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation tools.

Skill in:

  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including court staff, community members, and partner agencies.

  • Working independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Applying critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to operational and programmatic challenges.

  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse audiences.

  • Interpreting and analyzing data to inform decision-making and support system improvement efforts.

  • Coordinating and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and program activities in a dynamic environment.

  • Utilizing automated information systems to develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and documents.

Licenses and Certificates:

Must possess a valid Arizona Driver License at the time of appointment.

Physical/Sensory Items:

Typically performs duties in an office environment and may lift materials and/or equipment 20 lbs. or less. This position may require attendance at evening and/or weekend events and meetings.

Upon yearly anniversary, 56 hours of sick time accrued, less usage, may be rolled over to vacation time.
