Family Time Coaching, Intervention, and Skills Training - 70%
Provide intensive in the room supervision and hands on skills training intervention for in office and in-home family time between parents, other relatives, and children. This could include coaching and modeling designed to increase a caregiver’s ability to read the child’s cues and appropriately meet their needs.
Provide in-the-moment interventions that uphold the child’s physical and emotional safety as well as the Family Time Center policies and guidelines.
Provide parent education either formally through structured curriculum, or informally through interventions and modeling, for each case.
Create goals with clients using strength-based engagement techniques.
Provide feedback to parents to further educate, evaluate, and review progress toward permanency for children.
Document progress of parent and parent child relationships in family time notes and monthly progress reports and participate as an active treatment team member.
Develop rapport with parents and learn about their family culture/values and work to identify dysfunctional family relationships, cross-generational patterns, and trauma experiences which are negatively impacting the safety of the child(ren). This could include parenting or family time assessments.
ICPC case assignments.
Collaboration - 25%
Assist the Family Time Center Team in the development, modification, or enhancement of parenting programs and activities to support healthy family relationships, life skills development, and kinship provider support.
Testify at corresponding hearings in a clear and concise manner. Work closely with the assistant county attorneys to ensure they have the latest updates on the case and that you are prepared for court hearing.
Lead trainings or groups which are designed to educate parents and caregivers on the effects of trauma on child development and how to implement parenting strategies which will mitigate those effects.
Attend family engagement meetings, group supervisions, staff meetings, staff training, regular supervisory meetings, and other agency or community meetings as requested.
Maintain and increase knowledge and skills through attendance to meetings, conferences, training seminars, and in-service training sessions.
Provide coverage for other Family Time staff.
Upkeep/organization of the Family Time Center.
Policies and Procedures - 5%
Understand and implement rules and regulations for Child Welfare organizations in Colorado outlined in the State of Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 guidelines.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques
AND 1 year of Child Welfare experience in another Child Welfare Agency and successful completion of six (6) months as a Journey Level Weld County Child Welfare Caseworker as documented in the annual performance evaluation which shows a Meets Standards or higher on core competencies and responsibilities.
OR 2 years Professional experience working directly with children and families who have experienced trauma.
Preferred Education
Master's Degree in a human services or behavioral sciences field preferred.
Preferred Experience
Professional clinical experience.
Experience working with families and youth/children involved in the child welfare system.
Infant-Child mental health experience.
Work experience that includes the ability to identify mental health illnesses and determine what impact the mental health diagnosis has on the family.
Work experience that includes working with persons with addiction and substance use issues and how these issues impact parenting.
Experience working with families and youth/children in a clinical setting.
Skills and Abilities
Understanding of and experience working with Trauma Informed Practice.
Candidate must possess ability to keyboard at 40 words per minute.
Candidate must possess the ability to enter data into several different computer programs.
Candidate must possess the ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis.
Candidate must have knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Candidate must possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures.
Candidate must possess the ability to write correspondence.
Candidate must possess the ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations with parents, foster parents, relative care providers, and community partners.
Candidate must possess the ability to clearly articulate concepts, directives and goals to employees, professionals and state and community representatives.
Candidate must possess the ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.
Candidate must possess the ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.
Candidate must possess the ability to adapt to fast paced, high volume and ever-changing work environment and be able to handle high stress and conflict filled situations while remaining calm and professional.
Candidate must be well versed in effective conflict resolution and possess ability to deescalate hostile situations.
Licenses and Certifications
Candidate must pass Department of Human Services background checks prior to employment start date. Required
Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date. Required
Candidate must pass a CBI/FBI fingerprint check prior to employment start date and will continue to be subject to CBI/FBI monitoring throughout employment. Required
Candidate must submit college transcripts prior to the first day of employment. Required
Therapeutic Licensure (LPC, LCSW, MFT, LPCC) Preferred
Infant-Child Mental Health Endorsement Preferred
Candidate must complete twenty (20) hours of job specific training annually. Required
Driving is essential in this position.
Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance Required
Candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) evaluation and if hired, will be subject to continuous monthly MVR monitoring and random drug screens throughout employment. Candidate must provide own transportation and be willing to travel and transport clients as needed to meet the essential functions of the position. Required
Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position.
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.
This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
