Job Summary

The Structured Credit team is seeking a highly motivated Associate, Structuring & Modeling to support the structuring, underwriting, and execution of complex loan portfolio transactions, with a primary focus on small-balance commercial real estate (CRE) loans. This role offers exposure to the full deal lifecycle — from initial data analysis and pool shaping to execution and ongoing portfolio management — across securitizations, bank warehouse facilities, and bespoke financing structures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Analyze extensive loan-level data tapes, identify missing or inaccurate fields, validate data integrity, and transform raw datasets into accurate, actionable formats.
  • Contribute to loan pool evaluation and shaping through borrower, collateral, and market analysis.
  • Build and maintain detailed cash flow and loan-level models for large, diverse loan pools, incorporating various financing structures such as securitizations, bank warehouse lines, and customized funding solutions.
  • Model hedging strategies and assess the impact of interest rate and credit risk.
  • Support the execution of securitized transactions (CMBS, CRE CLO, RMBS) and other asset-backed finance structures.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for internal investment committees, rating agencies, capital markets counterparties, and other external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (legal, accounting, servicing, portfolio management) and external partners (rating agencies, capital markets desks, warehouse lenders) throughout the deal lifecycle.
  • Assist in ongoing portfolio management, including model updates as portfolios evolve and the development of tools to extract insights from performance trends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, STEM, or a related discipline from a Top 50 accredited college/university, with a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, credit ratings, structured finance, or asset-backed finance.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate finance, structured products, and asset-backed finance (ABF).
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and securitization analytics; experience with INTEX DealMaker strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with incomplete or unverified datasets, perform rigorous data validation, and synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets, assess credit risk, and structure transactions.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving and cross-functional engagement.
  • Ability to travel 5-10% domestically.
