The Pima County Juvenile Court Center (PCJCC) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining educational programs that support youth and families referred to the court. You’ll also play a key role in building strong partnerships with internal departments and community organizations, while providing training and support to court staff and stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery and engagement.

Job Description

Salary Range: $23.61 - $25.97

Summary:

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining educational programs that support youth and families referred to the Pima County Juvenile Court Center (PCJCC). The role also involves building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal departments and external community organizations that serve youth and families. Additionally, the incumbent provides instruction and training to court staff and stakeholders to support program delivery and engagement.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

This is a classified position that reports to the Juvenile Court System Improvement Manager. This position performs duties under general supervision and may direct administrative support staff on a project-by-project basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, social or behavioral sciences, or a closely related field, and two (2) years of experience in juvenile justice, dependency, or teaching/education-related work. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as approved by Human Resources.

Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Facilitate educational programming such as Domestic Violence Education, Crossroads, Positive Choices, Strengthening Families, Corrections Fatigue to Fulfillment.

  • Coordinate facilitators for educational programs.

  • Determine appropriateness and suitability of program for individuals.

  • Contact program participants to answer questions and encourage attendance .

  • Maintain accurate program attendance information for all programs assigned.

  • Accurately document parental contact.

  • Inform assigned Probation Officers or employee supervisor of participant attendance .

  • Process and provide necessary data to department Data Analyst.

  • Promote family engagement in educational programming and services within the community.

  • Collaborate with the community partners, including participation in coalitions, taskforces and committees.

  • Plan, organize, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in developing education events and programming for court-involved youth.

  • Establish and maintain an active and effective working relationship with all Juvenile Court departments.

  • Participate in court initiatives and committees.

  • Attend relevant trainings to maintain current knowledge and continue education.

  • Perform related duties and support team projects and activities.

Additional Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assist in the development and distribution of outreach materials to promote awareness of youth and family programs.

  • Support evaluation efforts by gathering participant feedback and contributing to program improvement strategies.

  • Provide occasional backup coverage for other facilitators or program staff during absences or high-volume periods.

  • Participate in grant-related activities, including data collection and reporting, when applicable.

  • Assist with onboarding and informal mentoring of new staff, interns, or volunteers supporting youth and family services.

  • Maintain inventory of program materials and supplies; coordinate replenishment as needed.

  • Represent the department at community events, school functions, or public forums to promote Juvenile Court services.

  • Contribute to the development or revision of internal procedures, training guides, or program documentation.

  • Teaching, training, and creating/facilitating programming.

  • Principles and practices of the Juvenile Dependency and Justice Systems.

  • Juvenile Court procedures.

  • Juvenile probation processes and procedures.

  • Cultural, societal, and systemic issues impacting juvenile delinquency, such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health issues.

  • Data collection and analysis

  • Principles and practices of program development.

Skill in:

  • Presentation to a diverse audience, including staff, youth, and families.

  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Collaborating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Licenses and Certificates:

A valid Arizona Driver License is required at the time of appointment.

Physical/Sensory Items:

Typically performs duties in an office environment and may lift materials and/or equipment of up to 20 pounds.

Upon yearly anniversary, 56 hours of sick time accrued, less usage, may be rolled over to vacation time.
