Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Agricultural Logistics Coordinator will provide assistance in planning and administering Biltmore’s Animal Agricultural programs.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting and developing Agricultural programs at Biltmore; assisting with budget and business development; and operations administration, as well as all logistics related to livestock operations.  The applicant will assist with hands on participation and managing all, but not limited to the duties listed below.  

This position will provide administrative, logistic and budget support to the Livestock Operations Director and related livestock managers and crew leaders. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

1. Processing appointments and invoicing; maintain expenditure and revenue records
2. Coordinate with Biltmore Estate Food and Beverage restaurants, chefs, purchasing, and growers for Biltmore Grown products, delivering product to restaurants, and delivering livestock to processors. 
3. Educational program development and delivery
4. Cattle and Sheep records as well as continued update of CattleMax program
5. Record keeping input and organization; assist with compiling month end reports for accounting departments 
6. Scheduling agriculture meetings with both onsite and offsite participants
7. Organizing Expenses from monthly financial statements for multiple agriculture departments to track expense ratio
8. Recording information at cattle or sheep working and inputting data into Cattle Max software and spreadsheets
9. Livestock prescription tracking and reporting for all animal entities to prescribing veterinarian 
10. Upkeep of livestock semen and embryo usage/inventory; general animal inventory
11. Upkeep and responsibility over safety related supplies and devices
12. Maintaining calving, lambing, and processing records 
13.  American Angus and American Dorper Associations data input; administration for registration and certificate transfers; data input for the Maternal Plus program.

 
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Travel arrangements for agriculture delegations and out of town guests; making itinerary for extension and veterinarian visits, coordinating with all involved groups
2. Recording minutes for agriculture meetings, compiling action items
3. General assistance and support for department, leadership, and company.
4. Other general support for livestock operations crew. 

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Two or Four-year degree preferred. Additional training and/or certification(s) a plus.
2. Previous experience with livestock management preferred; strong operational knowledge of Biltmore's agricultural/environmental activities. 
3. Some exposure to program and business development practices.
4. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service.
5. Proven leadership skills; track record in building positive, professional working relationships at all levels and across departments.
6. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; effectively conveys information clearly and concisely to various audiences; solid public speaking skills.
7. Excellent project and time management, planning, and organizational skills; prioritizes work, adapts as needed, and can multi-task successfully.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Logistic travel required; must have a valid driver's license.
2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; must be able to access historic structures and climbing stairs, ladders, etc. as needed.
3. Works indoors and outside, sometimes with fluctuating temperatures and conditions.
4. May be exposed to dirt, dust, pollen, dander, chemicals, fumes, and particulates.
