Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement:

The mission of the Department of Hearing & Speech Sciences is to provide state-of-the-art teaching, research, and clinical services in the areas of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Our department is recognized as one of the top-ranked Graduate Programs by U.S. News and World Report (America's Best Graduate Schools 2024). Our program is ranked 12th and our speech-language pathology program is ranked 18th. Both programs are in the top 10% of graduate programs in the discipline nationwide. The Department’s Hearing and Speech Clinic provides speech, language, and hearing services for individuals with communication disorders across the life span. The Audiology clinic’s current services, include diagnostic audiologic evaluations, fitting of hearing aids and assistive technology, implantable device fitting and follow-up, tinnitus evaluation and management, and auditory processing evaluations. The clinic includes a Language-Learning Early-Advantage Program (LEAP), which offers communication enrichment for children between the ages of three and five and especially welcomes children with speech and/or language delays only or children learning English as a second language.

Position Summary:
This is a position for a professional track faculty member at the Clinical Assistant Professor level in Audiology. Responsibilities include: provision of clinical education to graduate and undergraduate students engaged in practicum in Audiology and provision of direct clinical services; potential for teaching courses within the Department; and opportunities for collaboration with research faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in the field of Audiology where they have demonstrated qualities of independence and leadership. Previous experience in clinical teaching or teaching classes in a university setting. Hearing aid expertise and evidence of a diverse background of clinical experiences (including, but not limited to diagnostic evaluations, pediatrics, implantable devices, electrophysiologic measures, tinnitus, or auditory processing).


Licenses/ Certifications:
Au.D. degree in Audiology, ASHA CCC-A, and eligibility for Maryland licensure

Clinical faculty members are expected to participate in departmental activities, including committee service. Salary commensurate with experience; full benefits included.
