Organization's Summary Statement:
The GIS Support Specialist will provide essential mapping data development and curation support (data and map product development and administration) to advance UMD’s campus Enterprise GIS platform and services capabilities. The position will receive close supervision from the Enterprise GIS Manager while coordinating interdepartmental enterprise GIS projects, managing the campus’ geographic and facilities data for interactive map viewers and other data visualization applications; with a specific focus on interior space mapping for facilities management and public safety operations support.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Develop, document, and maintain core campus data and specialized geographic datasets and services for the support of FM and campus mapping and GIS applications, with a focus on interior space maps/viewers.
Research and develop “next generation” GIS solutions to enhance enterprise system development.
Provide operational support to Campus GIS data/service requesters.
Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience working with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS product suite: ArcGIS Desktop/Pro data development and management; ArcGIS Server/Enterprise service design and management; Web GIS system (ArcGIS Portal/Online) and GIS database maintenance and administration.
Knowledge of cartographic design principles and experience creating presentation/publication-grade print maps.
Knowledge of FME ETL Tools, ArcGIS Desktop Model Builder, and Python for data management and workflow automation.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
Skill in analyzing and problem solving skills.
Skill in creative and resourceful thinking.
Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
