Job Description
The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver interoffice mail and packages throughout the estate. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and enjoys driving and delivery-based work. This position also provides rotating support for other departmental functions, as assigned by the Manager.
Strong communication and guest service skills are essential, along with the ability to stay organized, accurate, and efficient in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility with shifting priorities is a must to help ensure departmental goals and deadlines are consistently met. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interoffice courier deliveries across the estate, providing support for various mailroom functions.
The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.09/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Flex: A position working an average of 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year).
Schedule can vary, but is generally Monday- Friday.
Essential Job Duties
1. Follow established routes and time schedules for daily interoffice deliveries. Monitor email for special delivery requests and carry a company-issued cell phone for emergency or time-sensitive communications. Collect and deliver incoming/ outgoing mail, packages, and lost & found items at designated stops.
2. At least three times per month, retrieve “Caller Service” mail from the USPS for TBC, transport it to TBB, and sort and distribute it to the appropriate recipients.
3. Operate equipment, including the HASLER printer and PAC Automatic Strapper, to support bulk mail jobs. Maintain presort order to ensure eligibility for postal automation rates.
4. Use OMNI Reports and OMNI Ticketing to generate and print guest tickets. Package tickets for mailing or shipping based on guest delivery preferences.
5. Utilize the HASLER postage meter, NEOSHIP software, and FedEx Ship Manager to process USPS and FedEx letters and packages efficiently and accurately.
6. Use various mailroom tools and equipment to prepare mail pieces for fulfillment and ensure timely processing.
7. Monitor and replenish supplies used in mail and package assembly to support a consistent workflow.
8. Keep the mailroom clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials and supplies.
9. Serve as backup for co-workers during vacations, scheduled leave, or other absences to ensure continuous mailroom operations.
10. Assist with the administration and coordination of programs such as Lost & Found and Save-A-Tree.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office; general computer literacy required.
3. Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, OMNI Ticketing System, FedEx Ship Manager, and Neoship software.
4. At least one year of mailroom, warehouse, or related experience preferred.
5. Strong organizational skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
6. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced warehouse or logistics environment.
7. Must have a valid NC driver's license with a relatively clean driving record; must have a reliable personal vehicle for occasional job-related use when a company vehicle is not available. Mileage will be reimbursed.
8. Proficient typing and keyboarding skills; experience using basic office equipment.
9. Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
10. Ability to drive a box truck, or willingness to learn.
11. Prior guest service experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
1. Ability to repeatedly lift and load up to 35lbs. during bulk mail production tasks.
2. Comfortable working in a moderately loud and occasionally busy environment.
3. Capable of standing, lifting, reaching, bending, and remaining physically active for extended periods (1-2 hours at a time).
4. Able to perform job-related tasks while seated for extended periods (1-2 hours at a time).
5. Ability to operate and maneuver a pallet jack to move palletized deliveries as needed.
6. Ability to enter and exit company vehicles frequently throughout the workday to complete delivery and courier responsibilities.
