Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional grants, finance, or accounting experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of grants related policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
The University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) is an interdisciplinary computing research institute that brings together faculty, researchers, and students from across departments to tackle major scientific and societal challenges in areas such as national defense, precision medicine, big data, cybersecurity, language and culture, and more. The UMIACS business staff works closely with faculty to support proposal development and the management of large, complex sponsored research projects. To support these efforts, we are seeking a colleague who demonstrates strong attention to detail and communicates clearly, positively, and effectively with colleagues, customers, and direct reports. The successful candidate will have experience supporting sponsored research activities, including post-award management and financial tracking, and familiarity with federal and non-federal sponsor regulations and compliance requirements. Working knowledge of Concur, Workday, and HCM systems is expected, with expertise in BA4 highly preferred. This role requires strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple awards and deadlines, identify and resolve financial discrepancies in a timely manner, and work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. We are seeking someone who values teamwork and contributes to a positive, supportive, and rewarding workplace culture.
Physical Demands:
This is an office job that requires the ability to be stationary for long periods time and the visual acuity and manual dexterity required to operate a computer and other standard office machinery. Must be able to communicate verbally and attend meetings in various locations on campus.
