Position Summary

The Major Gifts Manager plays a crucial role in advancing the mission of the SIH Foundation by securing significant financial contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations. This position involves the strategic identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors, ensuring they are deeply engaged with and committed to the Foundation's vision and goals. The Major Gifts Manager will develop personalized donor strategies, prepare compelling proposals, and coordinate major gift events, working closely with the Director and other stakeholders to meet and exceed fundraising targets.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Communication, Business Administration, Health Care Management, or related field

Licenses and Certification

  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License

Experience and Skills

  • Proven track record of successful major gift solicitation
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising plans.
  • High level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in all interactions.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management systems.

Physical Activities

  • Continuous hand manipulation required
  • Intermittent lifting and carrying of 20 pounds

Working Conditions

  • Works in a heated, air-conditioned office with routine office noise.  Operates a personal computer and general office equipment.  Occasional exposure to moderate environmental variations and limited exposure to hazardous or potentially injurious elements or conditions.

  • Role Specific Responsibilities:

Donor Identification and Research:

  • Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential major gift prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Develop a robust pipeline of prospective major donors aligned with the Foundation's priorities.

Cultivation and Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major gift prospects through personalized engagement strategies.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings, site visits, and other interactions to deepen donor relationships and understand their philanthropic interests.

Solicitation and Proposal Development:

  • Develop and implement tailored solicitation plans for each major gift prospect.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals and/or presentations to secure major gifts.
  • Collaborate with the Director and program staff to align proposals with funding needs and priorities.

Stewardship and Donor Recognition:

  • Ensure timely and appropriate stewardship of major donors, including acknowledgment letters, recognition events, and impact reports.
  • Develop and implement stewardship plans to maintain long-term donor engagement and satisfaction.

Strategic Planning and Goal Setting:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for major gift fundraising, aligned with the Foundation's overall fundraising strategy.
  • Set and achieve annual and multi-year fundraising targets for major gifts.
  • Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to ensure fundraising goals are met or exceeded.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with the Director, board members, and other stakeholders to identify and cultivate major gift prospects.
  • Coordinate with program staff to understand funding needs and priorities for major gift proposals.
  • Engage and support board members in their major gift fundraising efforts.

Reporting and Data Management:

  • Maintain detailed records of major gift interactions and contributions in the donor database.
  • Prepare regular reports on major gift fundraising progress and outcomes for senior leadership and the board.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for major gift growth.

Compensation (Commensurate with experience):

$76,003.20 - $117,811.20
