Job Summary

Under general supervision, serves as part of the Operations Team ensure premises of Social Services Division building, client common areas, bathrooms, and parking lots are in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Job Description

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assuring areas are maintained and daily assigned workload is completed in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes computer to complete required job training as needed.
  • Wears appropriate protective equipment for products and equipment being used and safely completes those assignments.
  • Sweep or mop floors within a designed area; empty wastebaskets; transport trash to designated locations for disposal.
  • Vacuum carpets with a vacuum cleaner.
  • Keep restrooms clean and stocked with supplies.
  • Dust and polish office furniture and equipment; clean windows, walls and hardware using prepared cleaning agents.
  • Strip floors, apply liquid or paste wax and operates an electric powered buffer to polish floors.
  • Keeping storage rooms organized, clean, and stocked with supplies.
  • Perform a variety of laundering duties including washing, drying, folding, delivering items, cleaning washing machines and dryers.
  • Assist with semiskilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry and other tasks, as needed.
  • Operate tractors with mowing attachments and other light automotive equipment, as needed.
  • Operate various types of power equipment and hand tools, as needed.
  • Paint facilities.
  • Repair fences.
  • Plant, maintain, trim, and remove various types of ornamental plants, grasses, shrubs, and trees.
  • Spray pesticides, herbicides, and water landscape areas.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and tools.
  • May assist with providing routine maintenance on equipment and perform manual cleanup of park area.
  • Learn and be able to cover all jobs in the Operations department.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and be on call as needed, especially during inclement weather.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Skill in use of various cleaning supplies and equipment. 

Knowledge of institutional or industrial cleaning methods. 

Ability to work in hot and humid surroundings and to be poised and tactful with others; read and write; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform manual labor; to work varied shifts; to understand and follow departmental policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED and one-year full-time work experience; cleaning and maintenance experience in hospital or medical environment is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
