Job Description Summary

Special Assistant/Strategic Consultant to serve as dynamic, strategic, and collaborative leader, strengthening and expanding relationships between the university and industry partners to enhance academic programming, experiential learning, and workforce development. Working in close collaboration with academic leadership, career services, and external stakeholders, the Special Assistant will help ensure that curricula are aligned with industry needs, students are well-prepared for the workforce, and regional economic development is supported. A central focus will be on advancing the mission of the Polytechnic Campus, with an emphasis on preparing graduates for career success through internships, co-ops, capstone projects, and upskilling initiatives.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

1. Industry Engagement & Partnership Development

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic partnerships with key industry
    stakeholders at the regional, national, and global levels.
  • Identify new partnership opportunities that align with institutional priorities,
    particularly within technology, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, and other high-demand sectors.

2. Curriculum & Academic Integration

  • Collaborate with academic leaders and faculty to align curricula with evolving
    industry trends, ensuring programs meet workforce needs.
  • Facilitate the integration of real-world experiences into academic programs,
    including case studies, guest lectures, and project-based learning.

3. Experiential Learning & Workforce Readiness

  • Expand internship, apprenticeship, co-op, and job placement opportunities for
    students.
  • Support initiatives focused on upskilling and reskilling for students and working professionals.
  • Develop and implement career readiness strategies in coordination with career services and academic departments.

4. Support for Polytechnic Campus Development

  • Serve as a key liaison to support the growth and identity of the Polytechnic
    Campus.
  • Collaborate with campus leadership on workforce innovation, student success
    initiatives, and new program development.

5. Strategic Planning & Data Analysis

  • Develop metrics to assess the impact of industry partnerships on student outcomes and institutional goals.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in higher education or vocational training, with significant leadership in institutional development, campus start-ups, or large-scale program implementation.

Consideration may be given to individuals with: 
  • Strong knowledge of polytechnic or applied education models, including competency-based education and industry-aligned training.
  • Proven experience in cross-sector collaboration (government, industry, education).
  • Expertise in academic planning, operations management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and change leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, accreditation standards, and campus infrastructure planning
