Job Duties
Ensures that all accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families and co-workers at hand offs and other times as needed. Take all measures necessary to ensure that the appropriate and involved parties have communicated necessary information in order to allow for the best possible patient outcome.
Completes Job Performance Evaluations for Subordinates.
Serves as super users for EPIC, PACS, Workday and other computer software.
Manages and coordinates all daily activities of the department.
Works closely with the Director of Radiology, Radiology Managers, Radiologists, and providers to supervise and perform technologist procedures in the department.
Completes staffing schedules for optimal staffing coverage.
Clearly communicates and introduces new processes into the department/unit.
Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures in accordance with current DNV and ACR Guidelines.
Contributes and adheres to leader standard work.
Performs all duties as stated for department Job Descriptions.
Plans, organizes, and maintains departmental functions within budgetary guidelines.
Performs other duties as needed.
Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
Department Specific Duties
Cat Scan (CT)
Understands requirements for student supervision as outlined in the Student Supervision policy for the Mercy/St. Lukes School of Radiologic Technology.
Maintains current knowledge of School of Radiology policies, procedures and student progress.
Supports the School of Radiology educational process.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical and technical personnel.
Competent with Computed Tomography scanning, department information system and PACS.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Professional Experience
Minimum 2 years of CT work experience preferred.
Education
Education sufficient to obtain required licensure/certification.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) certificate required.
American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) (CT) certificate required within 6 months of hire.
Iowa Department of Public Health State Permit to Practice Diagnostic Radiography required.
Current certification in Basic Life Support, in accordance with the American Heart Association.
Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/ Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required. Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to state or transfer date.
