We’re looking for a self-motivated and experienced Sr. Imaging Engineer to join our dynamic community of collectors. The Sr. Imaging Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of product photography, from equipment deployment and setup to the first and final image capture. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in manual and automated imaging systems, strong leadership skills, and a keen eye for high-quality product photography. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, capable of managing a small team of imaging technicians and ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of product images that meet our brand’s high standards.
You’ll report directly to the Sr. Manager of Operations Engineering and work onsite from our Santa Ana, California office with occasional travel.
What You’ll Do:
Equipment Deployment and Management
Lead the setup, calibration, and maintenance of a wide range of imaging equipment, including DSLR/mirrorless cameras, various lighting setups, and machine vision stations (e.g., turntables, robotic arms)
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with cameras, lighting, and automated systems to minimize downtime
Research and recommend new equipment and technologies to improve image quality and workflow efficiency
Manage inventory of all photography equipment and supplies
Workflow and Process Optimization
Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for both manual and automated product photography to ensure consistency and quality
Continuously evaluate and refine the imaging workflow, from setup and calibration to final image upload, to maximize efficiency and output
Collaborate with the software and commercial teams to ensure seamless handoff of images to internal and external customers
Team Leadership and Development
Mentor and train a small team of imaging technicians, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and ongoing support
Schedule and assign daily and weekly workloads to the imaging team to meet production targets
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages creativity and high performance
Who You Are:
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
Experience
6-8 years of experience in a commercial imaging or automation imaging environment, with a strong emphasis on imaging hardware and controllers
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role, with demonstrated ability to manage a team and workflow
Hands-on experience with deploying, operating, and troubleshooting both manual photography and machine vision equipment is essential
Technical Skills
Expert proficiency with professional DSLR and mirrorless camera systems (e.g., Canon, Nikon, Sony) both variable and fixed focal lengths
Capable in imaging hardware selection (cameras, lenses) for specific field of view and resolution requirements
In-depth knowledge of studio lighting techniques and equipment (e.g., strobes, continuous lighting, placement, fill, etc.)
Experience with machine vision systems (e.g. Keyence, Basler, Cognex) and software (e.g., Ortery, Pylon, or similar)
Basic knowledge of image editing in Adobe Photoshop is a plus
Understanding of AI/Deep Learning applications in imaging is a plus

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $97,240 - $131,560. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, experience, and skill set. This role may be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation, please ask your recruiter for details.
