This role will be located at a combination of (2) two Discovery Land Company’s club locations worldwide, on a 6-month scheduled rotation across the 12-month term of the position.
Discovery Land Company is hiring the 2026 class of Culinary Navigators. Participants will experience Discovery’s 12-month management training program designed to cultivate the next generation of culinary leaders in luxury hospitality. Participants will gain hands-on experience in key areas of culinary operations within Discovery's global organization, guided by mentorship from our senior leaders. This dynamic program for recent graduates ensures that each participant develops a well-rounded understanding of Discovery's operations while building the skills, connections, and leadership qualities needed to excel in a culinary career at the highest level globally. Successful candidates will be offered a full-time, year-round entry-level management role in one of our exclusive properties upon program completion.
Job Summary
In this position, you will be part of creating unforgettable Discovery Land Co experiences for our members and their families. The position will begin in June 2026 and start with a one-week Orientation. Job placements will vary across our portfolio of iconic private clubs, including: Gozzer Ranch in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; North Shore Preserve in Hawaii; Driftwood in Austin, Texas; Silo Ridge in Amenia, NY; and Troubadour in Tennessee among others. Experience will be gained by working side-by-side with our culinary leaders in all production stations of our fine dining and family dining outlets, our unique comfort stations and our organic farms on site. You will work full-time as a member of our staff, participate in on-going management-based learning activities and engage regularly with your assigned mentor.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Will vary depending on the rotation based on regionality/terroir and season. Every six months, you will rotate to a new club.
- Rotations will include: seafood, butchery, pizza, sushi, salads & appetizers, farm-to-table, steakhouse & barbecue, comfort food, comfort stations, menu development and costing, pastry, farm and agriculture.
- Advanced cooking program is an examination of taste, technique, ingredients and flavor. Daily activities will prepare one to research and prepare regional menus. Sensory perception, plating aesthetics, and taste are practiced principles for understanding our framework.
- Will be tasked with organizing an assigned station daily and executing all production needs. This might be part of a brigade kitchen or independently in smaller outlets.
- Shadowing our Executive Chefs and Culinary Directors and assist as needed in sourcing, purchasing, inventory, menu planning, budgeting and in the final weeks will assist training, scheduling and supervising our line-level team.
- Supporting large events for up to 700 members and guests which create one-of-a-kind, unforgettable memories for all who attend. Live fire cooking is a celebrated part of Discovery events.
Skills & Qualifications
- A dedication to personal and professional development is a must!
- A forthcoming or recent graduate holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts or related major from a Discovery Land Co partner university.
- An openness to exploring new cultures and traditions of others.
- Minimum of six months previous experience in food service or hospitality.
- Motivated to lead and inspire others by your example.
- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
- Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment.
Benefits
- Hourly wage will be $ 28.00 - $ 33.00 USD per hour. Overtime will be paid at 1.5x.
