Job Description:

Job Summary:  Reporting directly to the President of AHI and Head of North American Region, the VP, Operations  leads the Operations, Repair & Maintenance  teams in Airbus Helicopters in MS and the maintenance and repair team in the Grand Prairie TX facility. In addition, acts as site manager for AHI’s Columbus, MS facility.  The VP, Operations is a standing member of the Airbus Helicopters North America Executive Leadership Team.

Primary Responsibilities: 

Industry:  70%

  • Provides strategic guidance, oversight and leadership for the Company Industry operations.

  • Optimizes the financial results of the Company in order to positively contribute to Airbus Helicopters’ results.

  • Leads and directs key areas of Industrial Activities, Production, Final Assembly Lines,Maintenance & Repair and Completions activities

  • Motivates teams to achieve optimal performance of production and assembly lines

  • Manages resources to ensure successful on-time, on-quality aircraft delivery

  • Cascades and ensures compliance with all company and regulatory standards in keeping with Airbus Values and in line with the requirements of ISO 9001, FAR 145, etc., by ensuring all required procedures are kept current and by retaining a well-defined relationship with Quality Assurance and Ethics & Compliance

  • Acts as site manager for Mississippi site

  • Directs the preparation of reports and analysis concerning cost, manpower, schedule status, workloads, and special situations affecting areas of responsibility and assures managerial effort is exerted to their effective appraisal and control.

  • Ensures teams work in conjunction with Purchasing to optimize inventory levels through accurate forecasting 

  • Promotes a strong management commitment to employee safety and health throughout all functions to ensure compliance with Federal /State regulations.

  • Maintains and fosters successful working relationships with customers, DCMA, local government officials, FAA and other regulatory bodies.

  • Execute industrial ramp up as part of global industrial set-up

  • Drive efficiency and productivity improvements, e.g., AOS/Lean initiatives

  • Reports Risks & Opportunities that the region considers to have a central impact

  • Establishes & provides drumbeat for identification & mitigation of risks & opportunities

Business/Team Management:  30%

  • Assists in development of Company strategic and operating business plans and translates the business objectives into specific measurable corporate business objectives.

  • Defines Regional industrial strategy aligned & communicated with Central and the other regional functions

  • Establishes or approves the organization, functional responsibilities, budgets and overall schedules of direct reporting employees.

  • Delegates that degree of authority to direct reports which is appropriate and essential for the efficient and economical execution of assigned responsibilities.  Works closely with direct reports to ensure assigned goals are achievable and consistent with Company Business goals and Airbus Values.

  • Provides CEO/President, CFO, and other Executive management level officers with sufficient reports to reflect progress, status, and costs of all on-going major activities and advises them of all significant problems requiring this level attention.

  • Manages individuals in multiple locations in Texas, Mississippi 

  • Ensures all teams operate within ethics and compliance policy, including requirement that Gifts & Hospitality processes are used and enforced. 

  • Cascades regional / corporate objectives, processes & general information (MBOs, etc.)

  • Reviews adequate regional resources to perform activities in the Region and CCs; reports deviations to central

  • Drives & oversees periodic performance evaluations, makes recommendations for salary increases (promotion, merit, adjustments), transfers, hires, and disciplinary actions (terminations).  Conducts succession planning; career planning and development.

  • Monitors and enhances employee engagement and alignment with Airbus Values

Additional Responsibilities: 

 

Other duties as assigned:       

  • Supports SIte Development Plan activities and projects, as well as Site specific enablers to Sustainability roadmap and Hi 5+ targets

  • Liaises with other sites across the customer centers to support resource allocation and short term support, if needed to drive delivery completions across the network






 

Qualified Experience and Training:   

Education:

Required

  • BS degree in Management, Industrial Management, Engineering or equivalent aviation related discipline or equivalent work experience in aerospace     

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or MBA

Experience:

Required

  • Minimum of 10 years of executive level (Senior Manager or above) experience managing teams in the aviation industry                

Preferred

  • Experience in the helicopter industry

  • Experience within manufacturing/repair and overhaul function within the aviation industry

Licensure/Certifications:

  • The VP is responsible for roughly one third of the Profit & Loss for AHI (350M$ out of 900M$).  

  • The VP has complete oversight for all production lines/completion centers in AHI. 

  • The VP will make high-impact decisions with wide ranging effects across multiple departments.  Many of these decisions involve deep understanding of multiple factors in a complex and dynamic business environment.  

  • The VP will interface regularly with executives across the group and with partners, suppliers, and other outside organizations.

  • Accountable for meeting all Labor Hours budgets and Delivery Schedules for Commercial Programs AH North America and for Industrial activities within AHI.

  • Responsible for all employees / contractors involved in Civil Programs, Industrial Production activities +/- 370 regular and temporary FTEs across two sites.

  • Support Company Operating Plan and participate in strategic planning and development of this on an annual basis.

  • Participate in AHNA Site Development Plan strategic and operational activities on an ongoing basis.

  • Support Customer visits to all AHNA sites, and respond to questions, comments, or issues.

  • Responsible for maintenance of customer relationships
