SUMMARY

This position is based in the Landscape Management Section of the Engineering & Property Management
Department and is responsible for providing technical and administrative support for the tree planting and tree maintenance programs.

We are offering a $2,000 sign on bonus.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Properly and safely operate small to medium scale construction, landscaping, and arboriculture equipment. Investigate tree planting sites and perform

  • inspections to ensure work is performed to specifications and perform related tasks/duties as required

  • Supervise crew in absence of the Crew Chief

  • Maintain (clean, sharpen, make minor repairs) assigned tools and equipment

  • Assist in manual labor and flagging traffic as required

  • Comply with all safety rules so that all jobs and tasks are performed in a safe manner according to the City safety policies, COOT, NCDOT, and OSHA regulations

  • May have to work in adverse weather/environmental conditions. Participate in the emergency I on-call program (includes nights and weekends)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Arboriculture experience with knowledge in all phases of tree planting and identification, and insect and disease problem solving

  • Good computer skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products plus the ability to prepare accurate daily work reports.

  • Good communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with others

  • Ability to execute tasks with attention to detail

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • NC Class A Commercial Drivers License

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
