Position Summary
Responsible for facilitating, supporting, grants management, community benefits and fund development strategic and operational planning and implementation, economic development, and emergency preparedness. This position plays an integral role in community relations, representing SIH at a community, regional and state level. In alignment with our mission, this role supports community health improvement and guides a regional medical emergency strategic plan. Additionally, through partnership with other executives, oversees the enterprise philanthropy and fund development. Responsibilities include overseeing the strategy for planning, implementation and evaluation of potential state, federal and private grand funding sources. In addition, this position leads economic development strategies to advance the organization’s community benefit mission.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a Healthcare related field, Master’s degree preferred.
Licenses and Certification
Experience and Skills
- Minimum ten (10) years experience working in the areas of fund development, grants management, community benefits, and/or economic development preferred
- Community relations experience, specifically building relationships in the Southern Illinois regional area, that is proven to help move organizational priorities within the communities and region in which we serve.
- Proven ability to provide leadership for philanthropic efforts.
- Experience in leading a foundation and building collaborative partnerships with a board of directors to establish vision and direction for the SIH Foundation.
- Proven experience overseeing grants management.
- Demonstrated experience in leading economic development strategy through collaboration with executive leadership.
- Experience working with state, federal and private funding sources to support community benefit priorities.
- Demonstrates excellent team building, coaching and mentoring skills. Evidence of leader cohesive, high-performing teams. Able to communicate expectations and hold staff accountable.
- Models administrative and philosophical compatibility with the mission, vision, and values of SIH.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Provides executive leadership for community engagement, enterprise philanthropy, grants, economic development, and emergency preparedness in alignment with SIH’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Serves as a senior ambassador for SIH, representing and aligning organizational priorities with community, regional, state, and national stakeholders.
- Builds and sustains strategic relationships with donors, board members, hospital CEOs, foundation leadership, community leaders, corporate partners, public agencies, and funding organizations to advance mission‑driven initiatives.
- Leads enterprise‑wide philanthropic strategy, including donor engagement and fundraising efforts that secure resources to support innovation, service expansion, and community needs.
- Partners with hospital CEOs, foundation directors, and boards to ensure alignment of SIH hospital foundations, establishing effective governance, operational processes, data systems, reporting, and best practices in fundraising and stewardship.
- Oversees corporate sponsorship strategy to enhance organizational visibility, reputation, and community engagement.
- Leads development and execution of an enterprise‑wide community impact strategy, ensuring community health improvement is embedded across operations, patient care, workforce strategy, and environmental, social, and governance priorities.
- Shapes and represents SIH’s position on key community issues; guides organizational investment in community health initiatives and establishes enterprise‑wide metrics to measure social impact, population health, and equity outcomes.
- Leads strategy for identifying, securing, and managing state, federal, and private grant funding; serves as executive liaison to funders; and ensures regulatory compliance and oversight of grant activities.
- Provides executive oversight of regional medical emergency preparedness planning in collaboration with senior leaders and community partners.
- Leads economic development strategies that advance SIH’s community benefit mission by strengthening local economies, supporting access to care, improving health equity, and promoting long‑term community sustainability.
- Advances workforce pipeline, retention, facility investment, and service expansion initiatives as community benefit strategies aligned with external funding sources and measurable outcomes.
Compensation (Commensurate with experience):
$240,676.80 - $385,091.20
