Summary

The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for financial reporting, general accounting activity related to the month-end closing process, variance analysis, annual audit, and related duties as assigned.

Job Description

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries in a timely manner for assigned accounts/functions, including accrual estimates
  • Timely analyze accounts and activity within to ensure that all material entries are booked timely and correctly, including financing and related interest calculations
  • Responsible for completing required tasks to fulfill the month end close by the 5th business day 
  • Generate monthly reports for monthly executive deliverables
  • Review and ensure consistency of data between data originating from source/subsidiary systems not integrated with general ledger software (e.g. customer billing and fleet management) 
  • Effectively communicate and interact with operations to ensure timely information and data flow in support of a timely close
  • Complete account reconciliations in a timely manner following the monthly close and make related adjusting entries as needed
  • Look for process improvement opportunities and make recommendations to management
  • Maintain process policies and procedures to prevent inaccuracies
  • Work with the finance team to answer questions related to journal entries
  • Assist repair shops with parts inventory analysis
  • Mentor, train and develop staff accountants
  • Provide supporting schedules and information needed for the annual financial audit
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any other related field
  • Experience in fast-paced muti site, manufacturing, distribution, logistics industries
  • 4+ years’ experience in accounting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in public accounting

    • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, & noise occasionally.
    • Exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, & wet conditions occasionally.
    • Works inside only. Position considered office only.

Salary: $91,000 - $121,000/year
