Summary
The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for financial reporting, general accounting activity related to the month-end closing process, variance analysis, annual audit, and related duties as assigned.Job Description
Prepare and post accurate revenue and other assigned journal entries in a timely manner for assigned accounts/functions, including accrual estimates
Timely analyze accounts and activity within to ensure that all material entries are booked timely and correctly, including financing and related interest calculations
Responsible for completing required tasks to fulfill the month end close by the 5th business day
Generate monthly reports for monthly executive deliverables
Review and ensure consistency of data between data originating from source/subsidiary systems not integrated with general ledger software (e.g. customer billing and fleet management)
Effectively communicate and interact with operations to ensure timely information and data flow in support of a timely close
Complete account reconciliations in a timely manner following the monthly close and make related adjusting entries as needed
Look for process improvement opportunities and make recommendations to management
Maintain process policies and procedures to prevent inaccuracies
Work with the finance team to answer questions related to journal entries
Assist repair shops with parts inventory analysis
Mentor, train and develop staff accountants
Provide supporting schedules and information needed for the annual financial audit
Performs other related duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any other related field
5+ years’ experience in accounting
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Strong communication skills
Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in public accounting
Salary: $91,000.00 - $121,000.00/year
