The Dishwasher, or Kitchen Helper, is responsible for cleaning dishes in a food service environment to ensure that there are enough clean dishes, glasses, and utensils available for the kitchen and restaurant, particularly during peak operating hours.We are currently looking for a:
Adventureland Inn - Dishwasher
Roles & Responsibilities:
Wash all kitchenware, including but not limited to, utensils, pots, pans, plates, cups, bowls, food storage containers, etc.
Operate commercial dishwashing machine
Clean some dishes by hand when required
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Place clean dishes and equipment in proper storage areas
Sort and remove kitchen and dining room trash
Ensure that all cookware and dishes are in good condition, with no safety hazards, such as chips or cracks
Assist kitchen and wait staff with sweeping and mopping of floors during each shift
Wash/clean work areas, refrigerators, cooking equipment, walls, and floors
Rinse garbage cans out with water before adding a clean trash bag
Clear tables after guests have finished their meals
Assist with loading and unloading of food truck deliveries
Assist with stocking and replenishing kitchen and dining room supplies
Properly handle, label, stock, and store products including chemicals and cleaning supplies (age restrictions may apply)
Escalate safety, hygienic, or maintenance issues to the proper authorities in a timely manner
Promptly notify the security team or the manager of team member and guest injuries or emergencies
All other duties assigned by leadership
Education and Experience:
No education requirements for this position
Previous work experience is not required
Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws
Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift
Ability to comply with all uniform policies
Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
Must possess safety-oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all state, and local food preparation and serving regulations
Ability to use all dishwashing equipment and chemicals in a safe and effective manner
Ability to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a team as well as independently
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
Ability to tolerate constant exposure to heat, steam, hot water, and humidity
Ability to place dishes, pans, utensils and plates on both low and high shelves
Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more
Ability to use a step ladder in a safe and proper manner
Working Conditions:
This role will predominantly be based in a kitchen environment
Potential to be asked to work in other indoor or outdoor areas of the resort, as needed
Some exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
Subject to the handling of and exposure to oils, chemicals, detergents, and cleaners (age restrictions may apply)
Subject to frequent interruptions, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, and heavily populated environments
