Chathams Small Animal Hospital is a busy and compassionate veterinary clinic dedicated to providing exceptional care for pets and their families. We are currently seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Kennel Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on, cleaning-focused position critical to the health and safety of our patients.
Position Overview:
The Kennel Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire hospital, including but not limited to animal kennels, hospital floors, treatment areas, laundry, and restrooms. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a love of working behind the scenes to ensure our facility is spotless and safe for animals, clients, and staff.
Compensation: $16.50/hr
Primary Responsibilities:
Deep clean and disinfect animal kennels, cages, runs, and all hospital areas
Launder bedding, towels, and scrubs regularly
Remove animal waste and properly dispose of it according to safety protocols
Wash dishes and clean feeding supplies
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors throughout the clinic
Take out trash and recycling regularly
Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify the supervisor when restocking is needed
Assist with basic animal care (feeding & walking) if needed
This is a cleaning-intensive position. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with physically demanding tasks and working in an environment that involves exposure to animal waste, cleaning chemicals, and noise.
Requirements:
Previous kennel, janitorial, or custodial experience preferred
Must be able to lift 40+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive physical tasks
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
Positive attitude and strong team ethic
Comfortable around animals of all sizes and temperaments
Flexibility to work weekends, late nights, and holidays as needed
