Roles & Responsibilities:

 

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead by example through performing all duties and responsibilities, promoting teamwork, and fostering a learning environment for all team members
    • Provide first-class Guest Service to both guests and Team Members Practice, support, maintain, and enforce a total safety culture for all Team Members
    • Establish and sustain a robust team environment to increase location retention, motivation, and morale of Team Members
    • Support area supervisors in the day-to-day operation of their respective area
    • Direct functions to ensure a smooth and profitable operation Assist with training and coaching team members assigned to their particular unit
    • Keep all team members informed of park procedures, policies, and help foster communication between management and front-line team members
    • Address guest complaints and resolve issues Handle all guest concerns and keep the management team informed of any difficulties in your area of responsibility
    • Responsible for seeing that all team members are in proper uniforms and meet the park’s appearance standards
    • Enforce and comply with Federal, State, and Company labor laws and policies

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Be enrolled in a college/university program or vocational school for Hospitality or Business Management, Retail Management, Sales, Finance, Accounting, Culinary, Food Service, Restaurant Management, Marketing, Public Relations (or any related discipline) or related High School courses.
    • Be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays with flexible availability

      Position Highlights

      HUMAN RESOURCES

      Our Human Resources positions offer various jobs for detail[1]oriented individuals who enjoy working with diverse employees, including international students. This position assists with general HR duties and coordinates the International Student program. This includes arranging arrival and check-in, transportation, planning cultural activities, and meeting program standards. You will also coordinate with maintenance and other departments on room repairs. This position may also work in the Human Resources office, assisting with various administrative tasks.

      PARK OPERATIONS

      A Park Operations internship will teach you skills to ensure that the safety of both guests and employees is the highest priority. Leaders in operations must ensure each ride location operates according to standard operating procedures. Park Operations leaders manage many employees and hold leadership teams accountable for performance. You will learn about practical training techniques, auditing and record retention. Park Operations leaders also learn about managing labor budgets and schedules to ensure compliance with all Federal and State labor laws. These positions have a high level of responsibility for safety, compliance and emergency response.

      FOOD & BEVERAGE AND RETAIL

      Our Food & Beverage and Retail internships offer opportunities to learn about topics like supply-chain management, labor management, driving revenue, and focusing on product execution and throughput. You will learn the flow of retail products from receiving, processing, merchandising, inventory management and sales. You will also learn how to maintain par levels established by management. Controlling the cost of sales by ensuring quality and portion control on food items is an integral part of this internship. You will also learn about labor management and general safety topics, including safe food preparation, handling and storage.

      MARKETING AND PR

      Our Marketing & Public Relations internships target highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals. Interns will assist the Marketing Department with promotions, community events, media[1]related activities, guest relations, and market research. Examples of responsibilities include assisting with creating social media posts, capturing both video and imagery within the park, and traditional PR efforts, including press release writing and media events. Interns will also assist the marketing department with organizing and executing special events.

      AUDIO VISUAL

      An opportunity with Story Lands Audio visual department provides an exciting opportunity to learn and develop a diverse set of skills. This position will work with our team on Park PA systems, CCTV security networks, secured vendor networking, stage lighting and sound, and emergency lighting systems. Pneumatic animatronics repair, programing PCMacs and RS Logix, and game control systems maintenance are all niche and highly sought after skills that will be learned in the field – there is no substitute for the practical and hands on skills learned at our park. Experience Story Land favorites like Timothy Tree, Melody Farms show, Loopy Labs, and Cinderella’s Castle from the ‘back of house’ side while you kick start a rewarding, engaging, unique, and lucrative career with our Story Land and Living Shores AV team.

      ANIMAL CARE

      The animal care department at Living Shores is responsible for the health and welfare of all living species under our care. Animal Care Professionals work closely with our curator to maintain the highest level of care for all species, including invertebrates, fish, amphibians, and reptiles. As the animal care intern, you will be responsible for assisting in the daily care of designated species throughout the aquarium. You will be trained in the safe handling practices for assigned species and will be responsible for upholding human and animal safety protocols. You will also learn about the dietary requirements for assigned species, life support systems, the technical requirements necessary to maintain an aquarium with aquatic life, and species-specific enrichment techniques. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with a diverse range of animals under human care.

      EDUCATION

      Our Education Department is responsible for developing and executing all programming for Living Shores, both onsite and throughout the community. We aim to utilize these programs to carry out the mission of Living Shores, which is to inspire a curiosity for nature and environmental conservation among the animals in our care. As the education intern, you will assist the Education Coordinator in developing curriculum-specific programming highlighting the species found at the aquarium and the ecosystems in which they are located. You will be responsible for implementing programs and training Educational Ambassadors on the aquarium floor. This position will also coordinate with Animal Care on the use of ambassador animals, with an emphasis on both human and animal safety.
