The Retail Lead host is responsible for managing operations of one or more retail locations including training, accountability, visual merchandising, inventory control, register duties and quality control.

Also assists with ancillary revenue activities related to rentals and/or food and beverage, as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    Supervisory Duties:

    • Assist with the daily supervision of the Retail and/or Rentals team and any other assigned departments
    • Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Story Land’s core values
    • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned hosts
    • Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all retail and rental positions while filling these physical positions
    • Assist with onboarding and training hosts on how to safely and successfully perform their jobs
    • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with New Hampshire law
    • Ensure daily sign-in sheets are completed and submitted each day
    • Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities

    Departmental Duties:

    • Welcome and greet all guests as they enter retail locations
    • Perform opening and closing procedures of assigned unit(s) including daily cleanup.
    • Manage inventory levels by completing daily stocking of all gift shops, checking orders, and moving inventory from other shops
    • Ensure a variety of items are available for guests to purchase and that store shelves are fully stocked
    • Proactively communicate inventory needs to Retail Manager before items are sold out
    • Collaborate with Retail Manager to merchandise stores and improve product sales
    • Ensure employees are adhering to departmental and company policies (preventing theft of merchandise, etc.)
    • Monitor point of sale activities to ensure continuous accuracy and compliance with POS procedures. 
    • Ensure merchandise and retail supplies are well-stocked and organized
    • Maximize visual merchandising standards.   
    • Maintain cleanliness of store areas, including exteriors.
    • Manage inventory, focusing on stock par levels, shrink and waste controls. 
    • Follow appropriate food and beverage guidelines related to candy shop operations, when required. 
    • Be on alert for possible theft
    • Report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor or manager in a timely manner
    • All other duties assigned by leadership

    Education & Experience:

    • No education required
    • 1+ years of previous retail, point of sale, and/or supervisor experience

    Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

    Requirements:

    • Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with NH Child Labor Laws
    • Must be able to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • Must have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift
    • Must be able to comply with all uniform policies
    • Must possess exceptional customer service skills and be able to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
    • Must be able to positively engage with guests to promote sales and customer satisfaction
    • Previous experience with point of sale (POS) technology and payment card industry (PCI) compliance a plus
    • Must be able to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a team as well as independently

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
    • Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
    • Ability to use a step ladder in a safe and proper manner
    • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 25 pounds or more

    Working Conditions:

    • This role will be based in one or more retail locations throughout the park, with exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments
    • Frequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, and other weather conditions
    • Some exposure to dust and chemical cleaning agents
    • Subject to frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities
