Topcon Healthcare, Inc. is looking to offer an internship program from June 1, 2026, until August 14, 2026. This is a paid program located in the La Jolla CA office. The hours for this program are Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm local time. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Medical Affairs team as a Medical Affairs Intern. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in various aspects of Medical Affairs at the Topcon Healthcare Innovation Center (THINC), including the development and implementation of artificial intelligence and advanced retinal imaging analysis to improve clinical management in clinical care or clinical research. We are committed to providing real work opportunities for Interns through hands-on experience and a variety of scientific projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting in the preparation of research projects, scientific publications, or conference presentations.
Assisting with literature review in the scientific topics of interest
Assisting with scientific collaborations with academic centers, advisors, and external key opinion leaders or stakeholders
Participating in ad-hoc scientific projects as needed
Qualifications:
Scientific or clinical background in ophthalmology or healthcare
Experience in clinical research
Proficiency in common tools and software for the production of educational or scientific materials
Proficiency in artificial intelligence-based tools and software that are relevant for clinical research
Authorship in previous scientific publications is a plus
Previous participation in scientific conferences as a speaker or presenter is a plus
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a team

Base Pay:
Expected Base Pay Range: $22.00 to $25.00 hourly based on degree level.
The base pay range included is a projected hiring range for a position, level and potential work location(s) listed. Topcon provides the compensation range that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.
