Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Therapeutic Support Specialist to support our mission of promoting growth, independence, and a high quality of life for individuals with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. You will play an integral role in developing individualized behavior support strategies, provide hands-on training and modeling for staff, conduct assessments, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence student success by shaping therapeutic interventions and empowering staff through effective behavioral practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Behavior Support & Student Services

  • Create and implement behavior support, intervention, and crisis plans for students with moderate to significant behavioral needs
  • Conduct behavioral assessments to inform individualized therapeutic support plans
  • Analyze behavioral data to identify patterns, trends, and support needs
  • Review physical interventions and critical incidents daily for assigned caseload
  • Participate in and/or lead post-incident debriefings with staff and students
  • Attend psychiatric appointments/reviews as needed for student support

Training, Coaching & collaboration

  • Provide hands-on behavioral and therapeutic training to staff, including de-escalation and behavior management techniques
  • Model appropriate behavioral intervention strategies in real-time situations
  • Offer constructive feedback to strengthen staff skills, confidence, and consistency
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement trauma-informed practices and positive behavior supports
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, Collaborative Team Meetings, and program-level discussion

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate service notes and behavior documentation
  • Establish behavior support documentation standards and train staff on expectations
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, treatment plans, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements
  • Protect student rights and report suspected abuse in accordance with agency protocols

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Education or related Human Service Field or Associates Degree/High School Diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral support needs
  • Experience with autism, behavior plan development, and data collection preferred
  • Formal training in applied behavioral principles is a plus
  • Experience delivering staff education or coaching strongly preferred

  • Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergency and stressful situations.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality care.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and mission-driven mindset

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements including lifting and performing approved intervention techniques
  • Willingness to work with residents in a variety of settings, including community outings

Additional Information

Salary: From $52,100 annually + credit for additional years of experience
