The Ride Controls Supervisor provides support to maintenance leadership to ensure a continued and successful operation. This position involves the training and mentoring of the other Maintenance Hosts to ensure. This position is safety-focused and has consistent interaction with all other Maintenance and Park Hosts to complete tasks in a timely manner.We are currently looking for a:
Adventureland Park - Ride Controls Supervisor
Roles & Responsibilities:
Supervisory Duties:
Supervise the daily operations of the Rides Maintenance team and any other assigned departments
Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Adventureland’s core values
Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned team members
Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned employees, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline.
Research new trends and advances in electrical products to help remain current with emerging technologies
Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Iowa law
Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities
Departmental Duties:
Assess maintenance needs for day-to-day operations and off-season rehab.
Perform expert electrical maintenance for all rides, attractions, food stands, stages, and CCTV throughout the entire facility.
Work directly with OEM and other vendors in ordering spare parts and parts needed for day-to-day operations and off-season rehab
Work with the maintenance leadership team to develop a rides inspection training program
Train and certify all electrical staff
Develop strong practical knowledge and skills in the areas of electrical/electronic maintenance and repair, including PLC’s, Motors, Drives, Switches, Sensors
Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
Respond to electrical-related issues in a timely manner; troubleshoot and repair any electrical problems in a safe and effective manner
Assists with replacement of defective parts when necessary
Participate in the setup of special park events (e.g. holiday lights, concerts, etc)
Maintain the grounds in a neat, clean, safe, and attractive manner
Perform repairs following established safety standards and wearing necessary safety equipment
Properly document work performed along with time and materials used per park policies and procedures
Maintains all storage areas, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, organized, and secure manner
Safely operates company owned trucks, forklifts, and other equipment
Acts on behalf of the Maintenance Director or Maintenance Manager in that person’s absence to ensure efficient and timely completion of daily tasks
All other duties assigned by Maintenance or Park leadership
Education and Experience:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
College degree or other technical certification in Engineering or related discipline preferred; Equivalent work experience will also be considered
2-3 years previous work experience performing maintenance on roller coasters, amusement rides, or other attractions, preferred
3+ years of control / PLC experience, preferred
3+ years of power distribution, preferred
1+ year of previous supervisory experience, preferably in a maintenance capacity
Previous amusement park, theme park, or waterpark maintenance experience highly desired
Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws
Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, open to close
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and ability to utilize a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner
Must possess proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and small combustion engine repair
Ability to tear down and correctly reassemble machines, equipment or devices
Ability to read and comprehend ride maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
Familiarity and experience with theme park ride mechanics and electrical a plus
Familiarity with state and local codes as they relate to theme park attractions
Must provide own tools including but not limited to screwdrivers, hammers, pry bars, punches, wrenches, standard socket set up to 1 inch, and metric socket set up to 24mm.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods of time
Ability to remain on feet for majority of the workday
Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 75 pounds or more
Ability to work in all non-conventional areas of the property, including in confined spaces or above ground-level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts
Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, move objects/tools
Ability to see differences between colors and brightness
Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away
Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, vibrations, motorized equipment, and exposure to various chemicals and greases
Subject to bloodborne pathogens; Proper PPE is required in these situations.
Subject to working at significant heights greater than 100 feet
