Pay Grade
156Performs minimally invasive needle services in the Interventional Radiology Department for patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric.
Other duties may include:
COMPLIES WITH ESTABLISHED INSTITUTIONAL AND DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES - Follows all VH personnel policies. Completes mandatory hospital and departmental education, maintains required professional certification and continuing education mandates as necessary, and ACLS. Supervises radiologic technology students during clinical rotations and orientation of new personnel. Notifies supervisor of malfunctioning equipment immediately. Orders supplies as depleted. Complies with all universal precautions and infection control guidelines.
PERFORMS MINIMALLY INVASIVE NEEDLE SERVICES - Correctly makes modifications of preps, positioning and contrast media for patients of all ages including pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Operates and positions imaging equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate, adapting as necessary for the age of the patient, practices radiation protection. Prepares procedure table, supplies, equipment and preps patients accurately utilizing sterile technique. Assists Nursing in assuming care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during the procedures, e.g. monitoring vital signs (before, during and after cases), minimizes patient discomfort. Assists physician in performing the minimally invasive procedure. Completes procedure record in EMR accurately. Reschedules patient accurately. Follows guidelines for universal precautions (infection control) 100% of the time.
Uses available information systems technology - Accurately enters data into the EMR and Imaging Systems to capture patient visit and charge information, including recording exam time, resource usage, and supplies used; accurately modifying studies, as needed
Uses the Imaging System to record accurate, high-quality studies by:
Annotating the images, as needed
Sending all the studies to Imaging System and the correct work list, if indicated
Limiting the number of unnecessary unspecified exams
Education
Completion of a radiologic technology is required
ARRT(R) registry required with satisfactory completion of an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology Program. ARRT registry preferred.
Experience
(2) years experience as a Radiologic Technologist or (1) year as an RT is required
Certification & Licensure
ACLS Certified within one year of hire/transfer into position is required
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved is required. * New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Qualifications
Meets all requirements of level IV Heart & Vascular Technician Clinical Ladder.
Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development.
Competence in providing Angiographic/Interventional services for patients of all ages including pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
