The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview

  • SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)

    Plans, coordinates, and presents programs to meet the assessed learning needs of healthcare providers, patients, and community as applicable. Serves as a team member and evaluates the results of courses including ACLS, PALS, PHTLS Advanced, telecommunications, GEMS Advanced, PEPP Advanced, or any other advanced level course or program offered by Capital Health. Supports the creation of a learning environment by demonstrating effective teaching skills.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associates preferred). MICP or RN required (MICN preferred).

    Experience: Minimum 3 years active clinical provider experience and 1 year active advanced level instruction.

    Other Credentials: AHA ACLS Instructor,AHA BLS Instructor,AHA PALS,AHA PALS Instructor,ICS-100,ICS-200,NIMS,NIMS-700

    Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in advanced clinical skills and instruction. Intermediate level computer skills. Comfortable with the use and set-up of various types of presentation and audio visual equipment and software. Working knowledge of patient simulators and skill trainer manikins. Demonstrates proficiency in clinical and didactic instructional skills.

    Special Training: National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) Instructor class - Level 1, NJ EMT Instructor credentials preferred but required to be obtained within 2 years of employment. NAEMT instructor credentials preferred but required to be obtained within 6 months of employment.

    Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be comfortable making presentations to large groups of people as well as skilled at facilitating small group discussions.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts advanced level training courses for emergency and non emergency medical personnel and lay public. Provides educational opportunities at times and locations as needed.
  • Maintains attendance records of all assigned programs.
  • Maintains instructorships by recognized national or state agencies.
  • Participates in discussions and studies to identify educational needs. Provides ample availability and teaches throughout the year while adhering to prescribed course minimums.
  • Integrates information regarding evidence based practice and Capital Health standards in educational activities. Identifies learning needs that are consistent with strategic initiatives. Considers results of course evaluations in modifying or maintaining teaching methodology.
  • Uses effective communication to promote a positive learning environment. Utilizes a variety of instructional methods and strategies. Participates in developing, updating, and maintaining educational materials. Applies principles of adult learning theory to facilitate learning. Uses appropriate equipment, media, and resources as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and possesses a willingness to adapt to changing department needs.
  • Maintains active clinical provider experience and actively seeks to improve instructional skills and knowledge.
