Responsible oversight and management Natural Resources P&C claims including coordination of receiving new property and casualty first reports of claims via phone, email, fax or mail from insureds; reporting them to the appropriate carrier(s) and following up to ensure timely and complete resolution. Also responsible for assisting with the education of Natural Resources employees and clients relative to claims process. Position will work closely with various individuals including producers and service team members in support of new and existing clients as well as carriers and wholesale broker partners. Responsibilities will also include working across all vertical practice groups within the Natural Resources group.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to manage and optimize insurance claims processes for property, liability, and casualty across various energy sectors.
- Establish and maintain best practices for claims management, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for providing expert advice and guidance on insurance claims and recovery processes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, wholesale brokers, and legal advisors to facilitate effective claims resolution.
- Conduct regular client meetings and reports to keep stakeholders informed about the status and progress of their claims.
- Oversee the investigation, documentation, and resolution of complex property, liability, and casualty insurance claims.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all necessary documentation and evidence to support claims.
- Analyze and assess claim settlements, negotiate with insurers to maximize recovery, and resolve disputes efficiently.
- Identify and assess potential risks and exposures related to insurance claims and advise clients on mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures related to insurance claims management.
- Stay informed about industry trends, changes in regulations, and emerging risks to proactively address potential impacts on claims.
- Manage the financial aspects of insurance claims, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking recovery outcomes.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on claims performance, recovery metrics, and financial impacts for clients’ executive leadership.
- Identify areas on processes to eliminate potential E&O claims.
- Review claims that are declined to identify E&O exposure.
- Coordination of claims management process to improve customer satisfaction.
- Participate in claims review process with producers, clients and service department personnel.
- Provide education of the claims process to producers, serving teams and client personnel.
- Manage claim information and review reporting process in claims system.
- Receive and review new document claim information; manage notification process.
- Suspend information and follow up with adjuster to ensure claims has been assigned and is being resolved in a timely manner.
- Follow up with adjusters and insureds to ensure timely resolution of claim and excellent customer service
- Continually search for process improvements and/or enhancements to workflow; make recommendations for change where appropriate.
- Review documents issued by insurance companies for accuracy.
- Respond to client and company requests for action and information on any claims-related matters.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years’ experience in the energy sector (oil and gas, renewables, power generation, metals, and mining) with a strong focus on insurance claims management.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Finance, Risk Management, or a related field and advanced degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Commercial Property and Casualty forms and coverages for proper claims reporting Proven track record of handling complex property, liability, and casualty claims with successful recovery outcomes.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of insurance policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
