Position Summary
The Campus Safety Aid supports campus security by maintaining a safe and orderly environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position involves patrolling assigned areas, observing for suspicious activity, reporting incidents, assisting during emergencies, and providing general support to the campus safety department.
Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and access points.
- Monitor entrances, hallways, and outdoor spaces for unauthorized activity or safety hazards.
- Assist in enforcing campus rules, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Respond to calls for service, including safety escorts, door unlocks, or incident reporting.
- Observe and document incidents, preparing clear and accurate written reports.
- Assist in managing crowd control during campus events, emergencies, or drills.
- Provide escort services for students, staff, and faculty as requested.
- Provide directions, information, and general assistance to campus visitors.
- Support evacuation procedures during fire alarms or other emergencies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL FACTORS
- Physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, repetitive motions, and hearing are daily activities of the job.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects is required.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. May be subjected to extreme cold with temperatures (below 32) for periods of more than one hours; and extreme heat temperatures (above 90) degrees for periods of more than one hour.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
- At least one year of security guard experience is required.
