Position Summary
The Ingenuity Operations Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Ingenuity systems and equipment. This position ensures the smooth functioning of the operations, troubleshoot technical issues, perform routine maintenance tasks, and collaborate with the engineering team to improve system performance. The Operations Technician is involved in data analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes. The role oversees inventory and asset control, small equipment maintenance and repair, retail sales and payments, purchasing, data collection, employee supervision, design and fabrication, and tasks related to functional operations of a business unit
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for growing business opportunities including new and repeat customers, clients, students, members, tenants, and partners.
- Manages customer communications and requests in person, as well as via telephone, and email.
- Assists with and supports revenue, expense and budget decision-making.
- Supports operation of designated programs or business units to ensure a stable, productive and safe work environment.
- Supports various equipment and systems including computers, software, web-hosted systems, audio/visual equipment, cash drawer, hand tools, small equipment and/or vehicles.
- Conducts maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.
- Maintains building and assets in favorable and presentable working condition and communicates issues when vendor services are required.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment in accordance to established procedures.
- Automates processes and improves and automates efficiency.
- Communicates essential information to stakeholders, investors, staff, customers, and vendors (verbal and written).
- Supervises staff which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy, and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Prepares supplies, equipment, and lab space for classes and events.
- Designs and fabricates shop fixtures, furniture, and jigs.
- Ensures implementation of OSHA standards, NFPA code, and SDS Sheets and handles and disposes of hazardous waste.
- Employee is required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear when necessary.
- Trains, orients, and evaluates employees, customers, clients, students, members, tenants, and partners, in order to prevent injury or misuse of tools, equipment, and lab space.
- Maintains a working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
