Position Summary

Assists lead teacher in a variety of classrooms in the Kids Campus Early Learning Center. Must be committed to serving a diverse community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement. The selected candidate for this position will be required to work on-site at Santa Fe Community College.

Duties & Responsibilities

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists Lead Teachers in planning, implementing and documenting activities, preparing daily logs and incident reports and completing portfolios.
  • Assists teachers in setting up materials and equipment for daily activities
  • Performs activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group; works with individual children and small groups
  • Maintains sanitation and daily cleaning procedures; Sanitizes toys, classroom furniture and surfaces
  • Does laundry and washes dishes.
  • Supervises children and assists children in all daily routines.
  • Prepares formula for bottles; prepares and feeds meals for babies
  • Assists teachers in the preparation and serving of meals.
  • Sets out and cleans up mats and cots for nap time.
  • Changes children’s diapers and assists with potty training children
  • Prepares children for outdoor playtime; helps with clothing such as coats, hats, etc. and applies sunscreen.
  • Supervises children on playground
  • Assist Lead Teacher with home visits for Toddlers/Early PreK/PreK children
  • Provides coverage in classroom for staff breaks and lunches (floater)
  • Communicates effectively with families in person and in writing
  • Complies with all NAEYC, ECECD, CACFP and other licensing and regulation requirements
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping and occasionally sitting at a desk or table. The employee continuously lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
  • The work is typically performed in a classroom or outdoors.
  • May be reassigned to other classrooms on a temporary or permanent basis.
  • Regularly exposed to noise.
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne pathogens and contagious or infectious diseases.
  • The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Background check required.
  • Complete a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester (Summer, Fall, and Spring) toward an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Pediatric Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate or completion of Training by a professional in the field of 1st aid / Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with in 90 days of hire date.
  • Pediatric 1st Aid Certificate or Completion of Training by a professional in the field of 1st aid/ Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 90 days of hire date.

Teacher Assistant I: $18.35 per hour

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Child Development Certificate (CDC)
  • 6 (Six) months of experience in an early childhood setting

OR

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 12+ credits in early childhood education
  • 6 (Six) months of experience in an early childhood setting

Teacher Assistant II: $18.92 per hour

  • HS + 29 Early Childhood Credits (equivalent to NM Professional Certificate)
  • 1 (One) year of experience in an early childhood setting

Teacher Assistant III: $19.49 per hour

  • AA Degree in Early Childhood or closely related
  • 1 (One) year of experience in an early childhood setting

Teacher Assistant IV: $21.79 per hour

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood
  • 1 (One) year of experience in an early childhood setting

OR

  • Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree + Early Childhood Teaching License
  • 1 (One) year of experience in an early childhood setting

OR

  • Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree + AA in Early Childhood
  • 1 (One) year of experience in an early childhood setting

Other Minimum Qualifications

  • A CYFD Background check is required.
  • Complete a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester (Summer, Fall, and Spring) toward an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education ( if you do not already have one).
  • Pediatric Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate or completion of Training by a professional in the field of 1st aid / Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 90 days of hire date.
  • Pediatric 1st Aid Certificate or Completion of Training by a professional in the field of 1st aid/ Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 90 days of hire date.
  • All staff shall renew certification for Pediatric Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Pediatric 1st Aid on or before the expiration date of certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • All staff shall renew certification for Pediatric Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Pediatric 1st Aid on or before expiration date of certification.
