Responsible for planning, implementing, and managing high-fidelity simulation-based education to support the training and development of healthcare professionals, students, patients, family members/health partners and our community. This role ensures the smooth operation of simulation activities and fosters an immersive learning environment through the effective use of technology, scenario development, and collaboration with medical and clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Program Development:

  • Collaborate with medical, clinical and staff development to develop and revise simulation scenarios aligned with curriculum goals.

  • Support the integration of simulation-based learning into educational programs.

  • Create and deliver individualized patient and family member/heart partner education to improve quality outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain simulation policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with the community and rural referral partners to provide educational opportunities.

Training & Support:

  • Provide on-site educational and technical support during simulations, including role-playing when necessary.

  • Assist with debriefing sessions and video playback to further education for the learner.

Simulation Management & Operation:

  • Maintain simulation records, usage statistics, scheduling, and evaluation reports.

  • Coordinate and facilitate clinical simulation sessions across various disciplines.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation equipment, manikins, and audiovisual systems.

  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of simulation labs and learning environments.

  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment; ensure timely maintenance and upgrades.

  • Participate in simulation-related research, quality improvement, and professional development activities.

  • Provide routine maintenance for RQI stations at Methodist Hospital, Methodist Women’s Hospital and Methodist HealthWest.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required.

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred.

  • Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.


Experience

  • Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience required. 

  • Minimum of one year of experience teaching simulation preferred. 


License/Certifications

  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.

  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) preferred.


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Knowledge of databases.

  • Computer knowledge with abilities in word processing.

  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, hospital personnel, and co-workers.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.

  • Ability to learn, retain and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital or clinic information system.
