The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for processing the enterprise's bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll cycles efficiently and accurately. This includes managing wage payments and employee withholding orders. This role involves ensuring that all necessary data inputs are entered or uploaded correctly to support the payroll cycle and produce accurate payrolls and recordkeeping.

Most of this work will be done using Workday, our payroll software, and in collaboration with ADP, our payroll tax service provider. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a passion for accuracy, and derive satisfaction from completing tasks within established deadlines.

Position will be hybrid with onsite work at existing Pretium ecosystem office locations, including Charlotte, NC; or Scottsdale, AZ.

What You’ll Do

  • Processes full-cycle, in-house payroll for multiple entities and states while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws (including bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll). Manages data entry, maintenance, and processing within the Workday payroll system.

  • Ensures accurate processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, retirement plans, and payroll deductions.

  • Oversee all time and attendance administration, including auditing processes. Responsible for managing garnishments and conducting regular payroll audits

  • Communicates proactively across the company to meet deadlines and maintain accurate payroll data. Responds to payroll-related inquiries via the Freshservice ticketing system.

  • Investigates and resolves issues, addressing questions related to payroll processing.

  • Issues or reissues physical checks or direct deposits as needed. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, as well as best practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state, matrixed organization with heavy emphasis on payroll compliance and auditing

  • Above average Microsoft Office experience: in particular, Excel experience that includes VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and charts

  • Ability to problem-solve in complex situations quickly and accurately by analyzing data from a variety of sources to identify the issue(s), determine the ultimate root cause(s), and implement the most effective remedy(s)

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders that possess varying degrees of payroll literacy, adapting style and content to effectively convey the necessary information in a comprehensible manner to the respective target recipient(s)

  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to stakeholders at a variety of career levels with a multitude of differing demographic attributes (e.g., gender, culture, age, etc.)

  • Experience working in a high-growth organization with constant processing-related deadlines

  • Proven relationship management skills with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders

  • American Payroll Association Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or progress toward either designation is preferred

  • Experience with Workday and/or ADP Smart Compliance tax, wage payments, employment verification, and garnishment administration services is preferred

  • Vaccination against Covid-19 is required, except where prohibited pursuant to state or local law.
